The Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) launched the "Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Technology" specialization within the Electronic Technology Department of the Technical Colleges Diploma Program at the beginning of the current training year 1447 AH (corresponding to the second half of 2025). A total of 387 trainees were accepted in the first phase.
Dr. Adel bin Hamad Al-Zunaidi, Deputy Governor for Training, clarified that the inclusion of this specialization aims to prepare qualified national cadres capable of designing, developing, maintaining, and operating intelligent systems, and employing machine learning and robotics technologies in various vital sectors. This will contribute to increasing production efficiency and improving the quality of life, especially with the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence applications in industry and services, and the resulting high-quality and sustainable job opportunities for Saudi youth.
Dr. Al-Zunaidi emphasized that the launch of training in this specialization coincides with the Council of Ministers’ decision to designate 2026 as the "Year of Artificial Intelligence." This reflects the Corporation's commitment to keeping pace with the national drive to support innovation and enhance the Kingdom's position as a global hub for data and smart technologies. He added that this approach embodies the Corporation's leadership in aligning its outputs with the evolving needs of the business sector and ensuring its plans are in line with Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to build a vibrant, knowledge-based economy.
It is worth noting that the Robotics and Artificial Intelligence specialization was launched as a first phase in three colleges: the Applied Technical College in Abha, the Applied Technical College in Riyadh, and the Technical College for Communications and Information in Jeddah. The General Directorate of Curricula has developed the training plan according to the highest standards, with plans to expand in the future by launching advanced training tracks covering specialized fields in artificial intelligence and machine learning.
