As part of activating the memorandum of understanding between TVTC and the Digital Government Authority, His Excellency the Deputy Governor for Training – and Chairman of the Deputies Committee at the Corporation – has launched the Saudi Open Source 2025 Hackathon. The hackathon will be held at the Digital Technical College for Girls in Riyadh, under the supervision of the Digital Transformation Management, and aims to support achieving national goals in free and open source software.

This hackathon is the first of its kind, focusing on innovating and developing reusable governmental software solutions across government entities through the National Platform for Depositing Government Software, thereby enhancing spending efficiency and fostering the principle of knowledge and solution sharing at the governmental level.

TVTC supports hosting such stimulating events that bring together national talents in a competitive environment, contributing to innovative solutions for existing technical challenges.

It is worth noting that the hackathon was preceded by a preparation period within a virtual training camp that lasted four days prior to the launch. The competitions are divided into two tracks: the first focuses on developing alternative open source products, while the second track centers on developing governmental open source products. The hackathon will last for three days and will conclude with the awarding of winning teams at the “Tech Nights” gathering scheduled for the upcoming Sunday, December 21.
